Set up filing for Nevada

Provide your Nevada tax account information to set up automated filing.

Tax registration effective date

  • The date your sales tax registration started with the state.
  • Check your sales tax permit or log into your My Nevada Tax account and go to Summary > Account > View Locations > Print Permit to find your effective date.

State Tax ID

  • Enter the state-issued tax ID that starts with SUT followed by 12 digits.
  • Check your sales tax permit or log into your My Nevada Tax account. Your state tax ID is listed under Summary in the Account section.

Nevada Department of Taxation access code (optional)

  • Enter the access code issued to your account by the Nevada Department of Taxation.

Amount due on return (optional)

  • Enter the total tax due on the return. Exclude penalties, interest, collection allowances, and discounts. You may use a total from any of your last three returns.
  • In your My Nevada Tax account, go to View and File Past Returns, then select the most recent return to find the amount due.

Last payment amount

  • Enter the amount of the last payment you made to Nevada in USD. If you haven’t made a payment, enter 0.
  • In your My Nevada Tax account, go to Payments and Returns > Manage Payments and Returns > Payments and Posted. Your last payment is listed under the most recent pay period.

Filing frequency

  • Select the filing frequency assigned to you by the state.
  • Check your sales tax permit or log into your My Nevada Tax account and go to Summary > Account > Print Permit to view your filing frequency.

What to expect next

After you complete your filing application, here's what happens next:

  • Under review: Within a few days, TaxJar will review your submission for accuracy and process your application.
    • IMPORTANT: Your TaxJar account is created using the email address associated with your Stripe account, so if the TaxJar team needs to contact you, this is the email address we use by default. (Follow these instructions if you want to change this email address within your TaxJar account).
  • Filing setup complete: Once TaxJar processes your application, you'll get an email when it's time to review your first filing.
  • File your first tax return: When your first filing period is due, you’ll receive an email to review the return before TaxJar submits it.
